Man Convicted in Anti-Gay Killing Released from Prison One Year After Sentencing; Victims Mother Notified by Automated Message
The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, today condemned the early release of Stephen Andrew Moller, who was convicted in June of 2008 in the death of 20-year-old Sean Kennedy.  Sean’s mother, Elke Kennedy, was informed of the release by automated message last night.  Witnesses testified at trial that Kennedy’s attacker shouted anti-gay slurs while punching Kennedy outside a Greenville, SC bar in May of 2007.

Human Rights Campaign Statement on Death of San Diego Area Sailor
The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, released a statement today in the death of Seaman August Prevost, 29, at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA.  According to local media reports, the Navy and Marine Corps confirmed that a sailor's body was found on the base at about 3 a.m. Tuesday morning.  A military spokesperson confirmed that there was evidence of foul play in the killing and that the case is a murder investigation.  It is also understood a “person of interest” is in custody at Camp Pendleton but has not been charged with a crime.  Local activists report the victim may have been targeted because of his sexual orientation.

Alley Theatre Hosts Open Auditions for Local Actors
2009-2010 Seasonal Auditions for Houston actors will be Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Alley Theatre, 615 Texas Avenue. Auditions will be for AEA and non-AEA adult actors.  Auditions will be by appointment only, and may be scheduled beginning Monday, July 6, 2009.

Human Rights Campaign Applauds D.C. Superior Court Decision Rejecting Marriage Referendum
The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, applauded a D.C. Superior Court ruling yesterday that rejected a proposed referendum on recently passed D.C. legislation recognizing marriages by same-sex couples performed in other jurisdictions.  The legislation is set to become effective on July 6, 2009, at the conclusion of a Congressional review period.

SIRIUS XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) announced that in honor of the 40th anniversary of Stonewall, largely recognized as the beginning of the modern gay rights movement, it will broadcast Stonewall 40 Minutes – a series of one-minute vignettes spotlighting significant events in the Gay Rights Movements over the past 40 years on OutQ, the nation’s first and only radio channel for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
