Fabulous! The Story of Queer Cinema
Vito Russo's 1981 book The Celluloid Closet explored how movies portray gays and lesbians. That book led to a documentary adaptation from directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman. Floored By Love
Created in Canada as part of the TV anthology series 13 Stories About Love, this fifty-minute film captures the parallel lives of two different multicultural families. Director Desiree Lim first introduces viewers to a Chinese woman (Cara, played by Shirley Ng) and her Japanese girlfriend (Janet, played by Natalie Sky). With gay marriage suddenly legal in Vancouver, Janet wants to get married immediately. The arrival of Caraís tradition-obsessed parents adds to her hesitation, and she creates more tension by lying about the nature of their relationship.
