European Gay Groups Granted Observer Status at United Nations
Three European gay NGOs have been granted observer status at the United Nations, the Economic and Social Council announced on Monday. Approved were the Brussels-based International Lesbian and Gay Association Europe (ILGA-Europe), Danish National Association for Gays and Lesbians (LBL), and Lesbian and Gay Federation in Germany (LSVD).

Iraq: Five Gay Activists Feared Murdered by Death Squads
Five gay activists were abducted at gunpoint by Iraqi police in Baghdad on November 9 ñ and nothing has been heard of them since then. It is feared they may have been murdered by death squads ñ the armed wings of parties in the Bush and Blair-backed Iraqi government ñoperating under the cover of the Iraqi police.

Sexually Abusive Language Aimed at UK Teachers and Pupils
Nearly one in five of the UKís primary teachers and two-thirds of its secondary teachers have been subjected to sexually abusive language by pupils ñ some of it homophobic ñ the regionís largest teaching union, the National Union of Teachers (NUT), revealed last week. Many have also encountered such language being used by pupils against each other.
